The Plaça d’Orleans office: NIE and TIE in Tarragona city

Tarragona’s Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras occupies Plaça d’Orleans, postcode 43005. For Tarragona and its neighbouring comarcas it is the police office for the NIE, the green certificate and the TIE, and it should not be mistaken for the Oficina de Extranjería, which handles residence permits from a separate building.

What the office handles

Per the Policía Nacional directory: NIE certificates and assignment, EU-citizen matters, TIE cards, return authorisations, students, stay extensions, non-lucrative residence, asylum, plus travel documents and identity cards for foreigners. That directory gives 977 248 613 as its phone number.

Who is sent here

By comarca, according to the Delegación del Gobierno, residents of the Tarragonès, the Alt Camp, the Baix Penedès and the Conca de Barberà: the city itself, Part Alta and Eixample, Serrallo, Sant Pere i Sant Pau and Llevant, and towns such as Salou, Vila-seca, Torredembarra, Altafulla, Valls and El Vendrell. The other comarcas look to the stations of Reus or Tortosa.

Preparing the visit

  • Your booking confirmation, on paper or on screen
  • The signed form, whether EX-15, EX-18 or EX-17
  • Originals and photocopies of passport and supporting papers
  • The 790-012, already paid
  • For a TIE, a recent photo and your permit resolution

The other extranjería office

The Delegación del Gobierno keeps its Oficina de Extranjería at Avenida Estanislau Figueras 59 (43002). Residence authorisations are its work, family reunification, arraigo, long-term residence and renewals among them, as are the EX-19 cards for relatives of EU citizens; its own page sends the TIE, the green certificate and the NIE to the police.

It publishes opening times: 8:30–17:00 from Monday to Thursday and 8:30–14:00 on Fridays, then 9:00–14:00 on weekdays between 16 June and 20 September. Its phone: 977 999 149.

Hours and directions

No opening hours for the police office appear in the official sources, so the time on the confirmation from the online cita previa is what counts. Nor do they give transport directions: find the square on a map before the day.
