The situation you document
Registration stands on one of a handful of situations, and your papers must show which.
- Salaried work: the contract, or a recent employer’s letter
- Self-employment: your tax office and Social Security registrations
- Living without work: evidence of means plus public or private health cover
- Study: proof of enrolment, health cover and a statement of resources
What the officer will want
- The EX-18, signed
- Passport or ID card in force, photocopied
- The evidence for your situation
- The 790-012, paid
- Your appointment confirmation
After registration
Name, nationality, address, NIE and registration date all appear on the certificate. No expiry date is printed, but the details should stay true: after moving house or changing situation, have it updated. Five continuous years of residence open the door to a permanent certificate.
Queries on this procedure
Does the green paper prove who I am?
It does not. Keep your passport or national ID card alongside it, since the certificate is not an identity document.
My holiday-flat NIE predates the move. Must I still register?
Yes, from the moment you live here. The EX-18 keeps that same number and records you as resident.
Which stations in the province accept the EX-18?
Plaça d’Orleans, Reus and Tortosa all list the EU-citizen procedures. Which of them is yours follows your comarca, as the Delegación del Gobierno divides them.
