Modelo 790 código 012: the fee for your procedure

The Modelo 790 código 012 is the form that pays the state fee, the tasa, for every police procedure for foreigners: you generate it on the administration’s website, print it and pay at a bank before your appointment. Ticking the wrong heading is among the commonest reasons people are turned away at the counter.

Name, NIE or passport number and address come first, then the procedure. The NIE certificate asked for on the EX-15, the green certificate asked for on the EX-18 and the TIE asked for on the EX-17 each have a heading of their own, and the amount follows from whichever you tick.

Paying it

Banks that collect state fees take the printed form over the counter, and some accept payment online by card or from an account. The bank stamps or validates the copies: one goes to the administration, one stays with you.

Checks before you leave home

  • The paid form itself, not just a transfer receipt
  • A name spelled exactly as on the passport
  • A heading that matches the procedure on your booking
  • Your own copy kept safe, as proof of payment if the file is reviewed
